It was sublime. Both divas were in amazing voice and the emotions behind their performances was inspiring.
But perhaps the biggest news was...during the encores Audra said I'd like to sing a song I haven't sung in 10 years and learned it about 12 years ago and a special friend is here to sing it with me...and out walked Brian Stokes Mitchell. Then the two of them launched into "THE WHeels of a Dream" from Ragtime. It was take your breath away, tears running down your face beautiful.

Posted: 10/20/08 at 12:25amIt was a fantastic evening. Both ladies sounded great and I really enjoyed all of their song choices. And to have Brian Stokes Mitchell come out to sing with Audra was amazing. He said they hadn't practiced beforehand so that was literally the first time they'd sung it together since their last performance in Ragtime 10 years ago. Then the perfect ending of having the entire theater singing God Bless America. A night to remember.

Posted: 10/20/08 at 1:36amNot to sound like a numbnuts, but tonight felt like an historical moment. I so wish that it had been recorded. Beautiful. The 2 numbers that were sung unmiked...priceless. I felt so lucky to be there.
The last vampire is the mother of all vampires and that is the vampire of despair. It'll wake you up at 4am to say things like:
Who do you think you are kidding?
You look like a fool!
No matter how hard you try, you'll never be good enough!
Why is it that if some dude walked up to me on the subway platform
and said these things, I'd think he was a mentally ill as-h-le,
but if the vampire inside my head says it,It's the voice of reason!

I also had an amazing time last night. Barbara Cook is the definition of a legend, and I believe one of the greatest actresses/singers to every step foot on a Broadway stage. It was an honor to hear her perform.
Audra was equally breathtaking, and I was crying during Wheels of a Dream. Truly a magical night.
Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco.
Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!
