Posted: 3/12/13 at 2:22amI'm looking to go see Avenue q with a friend for her birthday. As I am a college student, I'm tight on cash. Is there somewhere I can get a good discounted price (like less than 60 a ticket, if possible)? I am also looking into getting rush tickets for the show. What's the process like for a Saturday mattine performance? Has anyone gotten rush tickets for this show? What are the chances I'll be able to get 2 rush tickets and what time should I get there for a matineé? I live on Long Island and can't get to the city a lot so I want to make sure there's a 90+ percent chance I'll be able to get the tickets. I'm not picky where I sit either but the closer the better.

i did rush on a friday when the box office opened at 12. I was 3rd on line at about 11:30. the 2 people in front of me each claimed 2 tickets, so i got the 5th, 6th, and 7th seat in. The seats are great and are in the front row, and there was nobody that got rush after me i guess since the rest of the front was open. the theatre was packed so some people after intermission moved up.
For a saturday i would say get there between 9 and 9 30, for a 10 box office opening.
Check playbill club, or broadwaybox for discounts, i remember getting 3rd row for Rent at new world for 50 dollars each with a broadwayboz discount. But if you want to pay less rush is a pretty good bet.
