Posted: 1/11/06 at 9:27pmYay another puppetry fan. The idea of Kevin Clash as Trekkie and a Bad Idea Bear would be very funny. I'm sure he would put his own spin on Nicky as well which could be interesting. It would be awesome to see him perform live.

Misto- I've seen Kevin Clash do Elmo and Clifford live, that's where I got the idea. He's great at the Ave. Q style work.
And speaking of being a puppetry fan/Broadway fan, when my sister and I went to see Little Shop, Douglas Sills was out signing autographs, and as he walked down the line, we were right at the end. Just as he got to us, Martin Robinson (who I was waiting to see in the first place) came out. Then Douglas Sills and I had the following conversation.
DS: Hey, did I get you guys?
Me: (utterly not paying attention to him)Yeah, whatever.
He seemed kind of hurt, but by the time I realized, he was talking to someone else. I saw the show again a few months later, and apologized. He said he would have done the same thing.

Well Imdb is a great source and I love it as well, but it has a few errors now and then.
I also saw Little Shop of Horrors both Broadway and pre-Broadway and waited for Marty Robinson. He's a pretty cool guy. Unfortunately when I saw it on B'way Doug and Kerry and Hunter had left.

Howie Michael Smith has his own website. See the link attached.
To comment on a couple of other things: I wouldn't think that race/ethnicity should matter for the actors performing the puppet roles. (Although they generally seem to prefer attractive young leading man/leading lady types for Princeton and Kate.) And I would tend to sort the voices into two categories. Regardless of the actors playing them, the voices of Rod, Nicky and Trekkie have to make you think of Bert, Ernie and Cookie Monster. Whereas I would think there is more leeway in voicing Kate or Princeton, as long as they are in character.
