This review will not make me popular but I was disappointed with Avenue Q.
In fairness I have to say that I was very tired and think that I had delayed jetlag. I believe that this must have affected my enjoyment.
The cast was great; Howie Michael Smith is a real cutie and was great in all of his charaters.
I found some of the lyrics very funny, but for some reason the show on a whole just didn't wow me the way I was expecting it to.
If I had the chance to see it again one day I would, just so that I could give it a second shot.

I definitely agree with you. I saw it about two or three weeks ago for the second time and the energy doesn't seem to be in the performance. I felt there was no cohesiveness to the show like it did the first time. It's a great show but I think the actors have been in it too long because I feel they are tired of the show. Maybe because the theatre was half empty could have been a factor. Idk
I just saw the show on tour a few weeks ago and thought it was great. I felt like they were performing it for the first time. That's the beauty of theatre, though. Getting different performances and different energy every night. :)
Thanks for the review!

I saw the tour in Chicago last night- Can not recommend it highly enough. Great cast top to bottom. The audience LOVED it!
I saw Ave Q for the second time a couple of months ago on a Monday. I thought there was very good energy and the cast is great, except for the woman playing Gary Coleman.
verynewyorkcurious did you see it in New York? I agree with you about the actor playing Gary Coleman.
