I couldn't get "You Can't Stop the Beat" out of my head for days after seeing Hairspray (and that was about two years before the movie came out).

I actually went back to see 'Q' again last night.. and after hearing "There's A Fine, Fine Line" again, I have to say I have fallen in love with this song. Beautiful lyrics... and the performance I saw was very powerful yet heartfelt.

I saw it in Buffalo on Wednesday night and was actually surprised by the lagre crowd.
The Sheas's Managers knew they had a possible "problem" on their hands when they saw the slow ticket sales for "Q".
Nobody walked out, and I they obviously sold lots of tickets!

Great cast for this tour and I recommend everybody seeing it when it comes to your town!

I had seen it while it was still "full-sized" in Vegas with Rick and John, so lots of it was familiar here, with sets and cast memebers we had seen before!

One walkout story I heard about was during the off-broadway run of Spring Awakening, an old man who was siting on stage got up and left during the Word of Your Body Reprise, and everyone (including the cast) just stared at him as he left.

I love "there's a fine fine line" as well. And thank you for proving my point and for giving the show another shot. So many people on this board and elsewhere love to throw around "unhummable" or "I left humming none of the songs" or "forgetable music." Musicals used to have more reprises of songs, as well as overtures, entra'actes and playout music that reenforced the tunes so that you couldn't help but hum them as you left the theater. And it's no wonder you remembered "You Can't Stop The Beat" as it's the very last song of the show and it's nearly 6 minutes long (plus it's catchy as all get out!).

The puppets make me cry too...damn felt and yarn :)

I saw Q last month in Columbus. It was packed and a much younger crowd, esp. for a Mat. No one left during the show but I'd say about 20+ didn't return after the intermission, subscribers I'm sure. Being a subscriber myself, about a week before the show I got a recorded message from BAA Columbus telling me that Q was for mature audiences only and was warned of full puppet nudity. Did anyone else get a call?

im walking out of this thread....

at this day and age. art is art. theater is theater. if someone finds puppets having sex offensive...they have serious issues.

Boy from Ohio, I'm a gal from Ohio myself, and the husband and I both went to see Ave Q here in Columbus last month and yes, we got one of those automated phone calls too. I think that the fact that they did that was a good idea. I don't recall seeing anyone leave at the performance I attended--at least not anyone near me. Maybe a few left at intermission and didn't come back... don't know about that. But I think that theatergoers need to do their homework a little before they see a show. Especially if they are the kind of people that know they are easily offended...of course sometimes you can't tell what will offend people. (I have a friend that I took to see "Chicago". I thought she'd like it, I certainly did. But she walked out of there at the end just beside herself and fuming--she was very strict Christian and offended by some of the lines in the show). So if you are very religious or sensitive, I would think you would owe it to yourself to check stuff out before you pay all that money to see it. The theater won't give you a refund if you storm out halfway through the show because you're offended by it. And parents definitely need to know about shows before they take their kids.
