I just got an email from The Old Globe in San Diego (where Jack O'Brien is Artistic Director) saying that Avenue Q will be playing there in Summer of 2007.
Here is the Link

Yes. According to Jeff Marx, Avenue Q will indeed be touring in 2007.
Very exciting! Especially since it's my all time favorite show!

I'm both happy and worried about this.
Even though I've known about the tour for a while.

Posted: 10/8/06 at 8:26pmCould the Globe production become the tour? Maybe that's the plan.

Posted: 10/8/06 at 9:55pmjust so people know... the old globe is producing it and it's actually playing at the spreckels theatre... which i think is the perfect venue for a show like this.... it's almost the same size as the john golden theatre in new york... i'm excited about this...

I always rememberd the Spreckels being bigger...maybe I was just smaller.
Eatlasagna- Is any of the original creative team involved?

Spreckles is about 1400 seats, and the Golden is about 800. Spreckles should work well though.
Also, there's a possibility that people who were in the Broadway and/or Las Vegas cast might be in this production. Lou Spisto, Executive Director of the Gloge, said this. The show will be rehearsed in San Diego also.

Notice the first line: "The West Coast premiere of Avenue Q"...are they just trying to pretend that the Las Vegas production didn't happen, because last time I checked Nevada was in the west side of the nation.
But, yes, looks like this is seperate from the tour, but the tour is actually happening. Nice to see a sit-down accompany it, like Spelling Bee and Wicked...

I wonder if the production of Frankenstein is the one that closed after opening night on Broadway years ago.....
Hmmm, let's tour a flop!

True, but a west coast premiere usually means west of the Mississippi, for instance recently a local high school did the west coast premiere for the school production of High School Musical, i.e. it hasn't been done around California, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, etc...
