From the BWW news desk:

"Variety reports that Avenue Q is currently aiming to premiere in London in February 2006 at the Theater Royal, Stratford East. The show is then hoping to transfer to the West End if it's received successfully. The out of town tryout will be in a 450-seat venue, and is expected to have an all-British cast."

I hope Q becomes as much of a success across the pond as it is here.

I wonder what, if anything, they will do about the Gary Coleman thing.

I've heard that Cameron wants to cut Gary Coleman out completely, but that the creators didn't approve. Q is such a New York show, but I hope that UK audiences will get it. And I know that Johnny T is dying to do it over there. We shall see...

I would think the show would have to be revised to fit the pop culture in the UK. It's not going to be very funny if the audience has no idea what the show is parodying...

I think it'll do fine with London audiences. I have several Brittish friends who already love the show and Different Strokes is always on TV in the London hotels I've stayed at.

Cam Mac will transfer it to London for April 2006 at one of his theatres (Novello/Albery and Wynhams available)

One Broadway transfer down...Hairspray/Wicked/Spamalot to follow on for 2006!

Weird though...the 2004 best musical transfer before the winner of the best 2003 musical does!!

I think everyone over here will get the Seaseme Street parody, but most people under 25 don't know who Gary Coleman is or his circumstances. I suppose the essence is described in the opening song, but he won't get the recognition laugh as in America...

They could put a note in the program explaining who Gary Coleman and what Different Strokes are. Cutting the character would be a stupid move.
