As far as degree's, I don't think casting director's care between the 2. A BFA might give you a very very slight advantage on the casting side, but in the long run it won't make much difference. Of course any degree is better than none at all. I know the casting directors(Patrick Parker ect) at Paper Mill and La Jolla both will give more of a chance to people with degree's than to people without.
