I have spoken to several persons who have seen all the productions and they say the chicago is the best. They also say they feel very strongly that Ana will be going to Broadway in january. While I enjoy the original cd, there's no doubt the Chicago cast cd would be the best. Gasteyer and Reinders are unbelievable.
Didn't you just post a thread on this?
I vote for Stephanie J. Block and Kristin Chenoweth.:) But I would buy the Chicago cast recording if it came out instead of the tour one because I think I like Ana better than Idina as well. *hides from flying objects*

Seeing Kristin and Stephanie when she is on would be awesome!
i think the strongest cast would be a combo of sho/megan/norbie/jeffrey/jenna LG/ben, with u/s being Jenna and Eden, SML, Jerad Botz, Robb Sapp, Kristy Candler, and. no wizard can be as good as ben.
.
too bad it won't happen. can't stop me from dreaming though!
I love all of the woman who have been involved in this show post-Idina. The voices just keep getting stronger. Have you all heard Kristy Cates? My dear LORD! The woman is a classically trained soprano, so her mix/belt is that much healthier. This is a voice she can use into old age. Kristy Cates, why hasn't anyone noticed you. You need to originate a lead role. PRONTO!
Okay I just saw this in CHICAGO, and this cast hands down is the strongest since the OBC, in some cases better then the OBC.
Ana Gasteyer? Believe everything you've heard. Superb, superb performance. She takes this show to a completely different level. It's an entirely different animal with her at the helm. Her acting was brilliant. And vocally she's unreal.
Kate is terrific as Glinda. Probably more like Chenoweth then anyone since, but that's partly Reinder's inate physicality and voice. It's not an imitation.
Heidi Kettenring and Kris Cusick are superior to the show's original Nessa and Fiyero, and there is terrific work from Rondi Reed and the rest of the ensemble.
I'm frankly floored that this production is so superior to what is currently playing at the Gershwin. If you get a chance to go to Chicago, WICKED is definitely worth the trip.
Kristy...::melts::
What Zoran says is true though. She's just an INCREDIBLE voice, and drop-dead gorgeous to boot! Chicago has just got an amazing cast. I'm really grateful to be where I am right now.

No one will beat Jennifer's Glinda. Ever. Sorry. No. (yes, that is my opinion, by the way)
I somehow wish you could combine Stephanie's and Shoshana's voices into Idina's acting ... now that would be an Elphaba.

We saw it on July 6. It was an absolutely flawless performance. Ana and Kate were electrifying. Weygandt was terrific as were Cusick and Reed. Ana performed as if it were the role of a lifetime. It was definitely tailor made for her. Her vocals were out of this solar system. Everyone was in total awe of this cast and performance. We couldn't imagine that the OBC could possibly be better. We actually felt guilty that this cast was not considered the OBC one. But guilt has turned to fear that we may lose them soon instead of having them for years to come. We quickly bought tickets for additional shows and are praying that a special Chicago CD will be out soon.
And just think the most expensive tickets are about $200 less than New york's

Chicago hands down. I was a bit disappointed with Cusik, not as good as Norb.
Stephanie is way, way, way overrated (Ya heard).
Idina was mediocre, frankly I found her acting to be quite underplayed and liked Ana a thousand times better. I agree with alot of the criticism about Idinas voice but you must admit it has a certain pop charm.

I agree with Derech2 Jennifer's Glinda will not ever be able to be topped in my book. She just brought such a great personality to it.
Kristy Cates? She owns me. The VOICE on her *quivers*
Ana is "da bomb"! See the show in Chicago if you get the chance. I saw the show this past Saturday and am planning a return trip in October.

I'm so glad you guys are in love with the Chicago cast, I'm going August 10th and September 11th and can't wait to see the show. I got to see Wicked in March in NYC and was blown away. I liked Sho's voice so much better than Idina's and the who production just blew me away. I would be shocked if any production could do better I would just die. I'm trying to introduce my grandmother to the show and my cousin to broadway and if there is a good production up there I just might hook them. One can only hope.
Kate
