She's a bit hurt because of Jennifer Hudson, and made a few gafts in the media because of it.
Such as?...
From what I understand her father made most of the fuss in the media.

Ew.. no way!
I'd never see the show if she's in it.

She is quite talented, to be sure, but it is clear that she is not an actress.
And yes, she is determined, and focused, and what not, but seeing Dreamgirls - with all the hard work, and thought she put into making the film - she is not a good actress.
I completely appreciate her, and wish her the best, but acting is not her medium. She is an INCREDIBLE performer, but something goes completely dead when she's not singing.
I don't think she needs to be on Broadway or that she should be for that matter. She has a nice voice and her acting works well on film (with the right director and vehicle, that is), however, I do not see the purpose of having her on Broadway. She doesn't have the kind of acting style that screams Broadway and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I just think if you wanna see her singing live, go to a concert, I think she should do more film work and find her way as a film actress.
do you think this board would pan the show or her just because they don't like her or believe in her even if she did a good job on Broadway in the right role?
uhm, no thank you. i think not.
Sorry, Beyonce getting a role because she happens to be Beyonce is, IMHO, an insult to every performer who had to work his/her butt off to get to even a second-tier role.
But isn't this sort of...the way Broadway works? I'm not trying to be obnoxious here. Look at how many plays require Hollywood names in order to be produced for Broadway, and a household name starring in a musical is undoubtedly a desirable thing. Even Broadway's biggest stars have to branch out into television and film to get the name recognition necessary for their names alone to be assets to the shows they're in. Rage at the economics of Broadway, if you will, but stars are offered roles over "performers who've had to work their butts off to even get second tier roles" all the time.
she certainly has the talents, voice, looks and presence to light up any B'way stage which is more than i can say for some of the performers that are actually on B'way right now.
I loved her in Dreamgirls.
That said, if she made an appearance on Broadway, I'm afraid I would have to gouge my eyes out.
Except that I would still see it (or at least stagedoor) because I'm such a celebwhore.

And look how many fail as a result. It's taking time, but I think most producers are realizing that the return on the bucks needed to bring these names in simply arent worth the investment.
Wow. Beyonce is truly dispised by this board!
