In this story, Reidel refers to Neil Simon's wife Elaine Joyce as a chorus girl from way back.
Elaine Joyce starred on Broadway in the Jule Styne musical version of the film SOME LIKE IT HOT, entitled SUGAR. She played the Marilyn Monroe part from the film. Robert Morse played the Jack Lemmon part with Tony Roberts doing the Tony Curtis role.
Having starred in a major Broadway musical, Mr. Reidel should have referred to her as more than "a chorus girl from way back."
Ms. Joyce was also widowed from the divine Bobby Van, the dancing star who received a Tony nomination for his magnificent work in NO, NO, NANNETTE.
