My favorite quote: In fact, one could probably write a dissertation about the similarities shared by Elle Woods and Sarah Palin. But let that go, and let the fizziness of "Legally Blonde" wash away all that's troubling about financial meltdowns, global warming, war.

Are you really mad at Robert Taylor for disliking it?

Posted: 11/22/08 at 9:13pmI saw LB this afternoon in Cleveland. I was very mixed, honestly. I thought the first act drug horribly and had no real standouts in the least. I mean, it was enjoyable, just nothing special. In the second act, though, I swear Becky Gulsvig picked the show up and put it on her back. She was spectacular. The energy was better, the feel was just entirely different. The rest of the cast was very mediocre. I recognized a few names, but after this I may forget them. It was enjoyable though. Probably not a show I'd rush to see again, but I didn't regret seeing it in the least.

Posted: 11/22/08 at 10:18pmThat's funny that someone would say that about the Saturday matinee, because I felt the same way about the Friday night showing. The first act was boring, it seemed very thrown together with no real continuity. The second act made sitting through the first act worthwhile...part of that was due to Coleen Sexton who was great, and Becky throwing it into high gear. "That, right there" stole the show and was the point that I thought my admittedly very cheap seats were well worth it. The first act did really drag a lot though, and made me concerned I had forced my husband to go and that he would hate musical theater from now on. Luckily the second act was ok!
