Michael Riedel's Year-End wrap-up... As usual, proceed with caution. ![]()
What a great quote! You go girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The show is losing about $200,000 a week - but Rosie's worth $125 million. Which means, according to one member of her production team, "We're going to run for 16 years!"

Hey - I think this is actually one of Riedel's most accurate columns, by quite a long shot. I particularly agree with his comments about Taboo and Retreat from Moscow.

I enjoyed what I could read of it. There's a Victoria's Secret ad blocking part of the text.
Thanks for linking this.
It was ok he has written better columns.
Musto on the other hand is a better read.
Musto has a passion for theater. I don't believe Reidel has a passion for it.
Susan Haskins is the passionate one on theater talk!

Susan Haskins? Passionate? She could have co-hosted Theater Talk with someone who genuinely cares about the theatre. Instead, she gives Riedel a podium because she knows it brings her show more attention, as they gleefully go about covering the cynical theatre world with even greater cynicism. She's an enabler.
I had the same problem with the advertisement, but if you copy the text and paste it into any text program, you can see it. Here's part of what was obscured (apologies to the Post, but, guys, get your freakin' webmaster to lay out the page correctly!):
THE NED BEATTY PUBLIC RELATIONS AWARD
To Neil Simon, who sabotaged his own play, "Rose's Dilemma," and made himself look like a firstclass jerk by sending a note to Mary Tyler Moore 15 minutes before curtain telling her to learn her lines or "get out of my play."
And because he has a way with women, he made his wife deliver it.
THE NEIL SIMON TACT AWARD
To Ned Beatty, who, while chewing the fat with the New York Times, let slip that his "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" co-stars Ashley Judd and Jason Patric aren't very good.
He may have a point (at least according to the professional critics), but it's been chilly over at the Music Box ever since.

Man that bitter queen Riedel will keep grinding his ax no matter what the facts are. "The Bernadette Peters Award" to Donna Murphy? The FACTS are that Peters has not missed a performance in 6 months other than one pre-scheduled and her vacation. Successful talented people he trashes in this column like Peters, Murphy, Jackman, Fierstein and Chenoweth must be like thorns in his side.

he is just bitter because he can't be a leading lady like them...

Well I have to give him credit for writing a column that included Jackman and he didn't mention his hairy chest. I've never seen a "straight" man so obsessed with the chest hair of another man.
