Kate actually didn't do the today show, which she was thanking the heavens for afterwards in the bathroom line, but she had done two Legally Blondes...
Ok, cool- so I don't feel that bad for her now. :)
Again- Jamie, thanks for an awesome show- Kate Shindle, Jenn Colella (who totally *rocks*), the Spelling Bee guys, Ellen Foley, etc...everyone was just great! And the fun thing for me is, I am seeing IN THE HEIGHTS for the first time tonight (I know- I've been slacking on my off-Broadway viewing), and thanks to last night I now *love* Lin-Manuel Miranda even before seeing HEIGHTS.

Thank you all so much for coming to the concert last night...
It's funny. I sometimes forget just how fun doing what I do can be. Thanks for reminding me.
I couldn't be more grateful to the performers and to all of you for showing up and being so generous in helping raise money for my upcoming trip to Namibia.
Last night, it was so clear to me how generous and wonderful this community can be.
I got some PMs from people asking about some of the absences. As with any of these concerts, it has to be the performer's priority to do their own Broadway show and do it well. Some performers hadn't been feeling well as we approached the evening of the show and a 2 show day followed by an 11:30 PM rock concert didn't look too appealing. Two of our singers are in Xanadu and due to having to rework a lot of the show after Mr. Carpinello's injury and such, they had to back out the afternoon of the concert.
Either way, I'm grateful for the people who were able to show up so late and do such a killer job. And I completely understand the nature of doing benefits and the fact that sometimes people have to back out for various reasons.
Regardless, I think we had a pretty great night, and I'm already starting to plan for Broadway Loves the 80s, Volume 2!
Thanks again for coming last night!!!
Love, Jamie
PS - Phantom2 - I have to save some great performers for Volume 2...hello??

Thanks for such a fun night, Jamie! It was so much fun. Jenn Colella rocked the house. Everyone was great.
I'm looking forward to Broadway Loves the 90s when we get some New Kids on the Block, Backstreet Boys, and Spice Girls.

Yes, we're trying to figure out what's next. The performers all seem really excited to do it again as well, so we'll see where we go next.
Keep an eye out for an announcement soon!

No, that was an MC Hammer impersonator who does Awesome 80s Prom sometimes. He also plays at the Apollo every week. He's pretty incredible isn't he?

"Mona Lisa" by Slick Rick...you know, it's interesting what you can find on the YouTube when you search Lin-Manuel Miranda's name...:)
