Because I haven't seen one before and anything novel to me is interesting.

Posted: 3/26/12 at 8:36pmThe weight issue is actually quite logical as many anti-depressant combinations (a number of which Diana tries) are known to cause moderate to severe weight gain, especially in bi-polar patients.

Also, on a related note, there's another review of the Boston production at Talkin' Broadway.

Posted: 3/26/12 at 11:11pmThis is a beautiful production, and if you are in the Boston area and can get tickets, you should definitely try to see it. Paul Daigneault and the whole design team and cast have created a really intimate production that focuses much more on the family dynamic, something I really appreciated. So yes, see this if you can. It's really great.

@Namo - No, not at all. I don't go that deep with my thoughts on these boards. Clearly, the Boston company hired an actress who could do the part well regardless of her weight.
I was just noting that many bi-polar patients - especially women - go through dramatic weight fluctuations with the combinations/cycles of meds they try and that, in this case, the actresses (sp?) weight (though not gained for the role) is an accurate representation of what many women go through in treatment with meds.
I guess that was going deep. But, no, I was not implying she gained the weight for role to represent that facet of treatment. It's fantastic to see an actress get such a powerful role regardless of her figure.
