Does anyone know anything about the staged reading they just did in NYC of Babes in Arms, starring Rosie O'Donnell?? Are they going to transfer it and bring it to Broadway?

In response to the question "U going back [to Broadway] soon?" on her website, she responded:

"i think i am

let u know as soon as it is a done deal
start rehersal in january"

I was wondering what this was. There was buzz surrounding NO, NO, NANETTE, but it has since died. BABES IN ARMS, huh? Who else was in the reading? Is there a new book?

I love Babes in Arms, but hadn't heard about this. Who did Rosie play?

The show is called BABES in Arms. There isn't a role for Rosie in the show. Rosie has no talent, so why would anyone cast her in a show? Her 15 minutes of fame were up years ago.

Rosie has had more than 15 minutes I'm afraid. and she's got enough money to do what she wants and to make projects happen.

Babes In Arms...interesting...not my favorite. Do we know who else was in the reading?

Rosie played Mabel, an aging showgirl who comes into town to help the kids "put on a show in a barn." Shuler Hensley played Sheriff Reynolds.

If there's an aging showgirl character and a large role for a sheriff then they're not doing the original (very good) Rodgers and Hart book.
