Just saw the complete casting for the Reprise Monday night series performance of BABY. Faith Prince, Kerry Butler and Alice Ripley as the three ladies!!! Wow. I've got my ticket. Talk about exciting!
I am so there too! I enjoy their Monday Night shows often more than their full-on productions.
I love the music in that show... I just wish I could see it! What a great cast of women!
Am I the only one not entirely sold on Kerry Butler? I'm just so used to Liz Callaway and their voices are very different. I don't know- I can't really imagine Butler doing justice to "Two People in Love" or "The Story Goes On".
I will agree with you on that. I'm more excited for Alice Ripley and Faith Prince.
Yes, they will be wonderful. Alice Ripley I assume is the Catherine Cox role? Oh, she's just going to kill in it. "I Want it All" is going to be wonderful.
I admit to FULL bias - but Kerry will do an amazing job with this role.
I do respect your opinion, Craig, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Or listen from others, since I won't be there.
I wouldn't say I'm Kerry Butler's biggest fan, but I think she's pretty much perfect for the role. The only person I've seen do it live is Susan Egan, who was fantastic. She and Butler have very similar, Disney-style voices. And, don't shoot me, but I prefer either of them to Liz Callaway.
Blasphemy!!!!

Glad to see this show is back. I saw it YEARS ago at the Marriot Lincolnshire Theater (community theater) near Chicago. Love the song, "I Want It All" , or at least I think that's the title.
Im not a huge Butler fan but the 3 should be great together!

I'd kill to hear them sing it--too bad all are too old for a real production
Too old??? Feels to me like they're all just about right.

I agree mallardo. Alice Ripley too old for the part of Pam? Isn't LaChanze older than Alice?
Blow her away? Perhaps..to each their own
Kerry held her own quite well singing a power number opposite Cheryl Freeman in Miracle Brothers. And on the daytime emmy's with Kathy Brier and Renee Goldsberry.
All three of the ladies will be excellent and will no doubt garner thunderous applause for their numbers.
I guess I just don't "get" Kerry Butler and her nasal parade.
Lea Salonga's "Story Goes On" is amazing. She sang it in her Carnegie concert. The sampler album is out in Amazon from her Baby production in Asia.
Baby - Lea Salonga and David Shannon
my teacher john sloman is in it. im so excited!
