BACK TO BABYLON GETS EXTENDED AT THE CUILLO
West Palm Beach, Florida -- Due to popular demand - with all performances sold out, good reviews and a waiting list for tickets, Back to Babylon extends it’s run at the Cuillo Center for the Arts’ Cabaret Room for another four performances. Saturdays at 8 p.m. on June 25, July 2, July 9, and July 16, 2005.
Back to Babylon is a one-man comedic drama written, performed and directed by Gregg Tomé. The play (previously performed as Babylon, Long Island) has pleased audiences and impressed critics in Los Angeles, New York and Florida where it has been performed.
Back to Babylon is based on Gregg Tomé’s personal experiences of growing up in the suburban town of Babylon, Long Island, in the late 1970s. The story is told by “Donny” in the local bar on the eve of his ten-year high school reunion where he finds himself reminiscing about his past. Through nine character-driven monologues, a story unfolds about a group of his friends struggling to define themselves within a haze of partying and a close-knit circle of townies. After a tragedy occurs that destroys the circle of friends, Donny, ten years later, reveals the indelible ties that all the characters in Back to Babylon have to each other and the history of their town.
Back to Babylon was last performed in West Palm Beach, Florida, in 2001 at Theater West, and The Palm Beach Post called it “A kinetic postcard from home” wherein “Tomé weaves a tale of the underbelly of Americana.”
The Cuillo Center for the Arts is located at 201 Clematis Street, West Palm Beach, FL 33401. Tickets: $15. Call 561-835-9226 for reservations.
