Yup. It's super simple. Count back 2 weeks and log onto the website at the right time. Buy your preview ticket. Done.
I find my experience with the actual ticket varies. Sometimes I end up in the back. Sometimes they put me in the front. I think it depends on how the performance has sold.

Stress level probably depends on the popularity of the show you're seeing. I've only done it for McDonagh's Hangmen, which was a hot ticket. They were sold out in minutes. The house is small so anywhere you sit will be fine.
The date and time to buy should be on the show's page, but otherwise it's two weeks before previews. I think Back25 is only for previews as well so keep that in mind.
