Backstage Broadway

Very soon i will be going Backstage at a Broadway show for the first time. I have only done stage door to meet actors and its pretty easy and not awkward. But since i will be backstage i feel like it may get to be pretty awkward. Has anyone gone backstage here and if so is it awkward to meet the actors?

"I you're going backstage, I'd assume it's because you know someone associated with the performance or theater. Perhaps let them lead introductions? When I've been backstage, the actors are often in a rush to get out of costume and get going, so be incredibly gracious (not that you wouldn't be). Some actors are okay to stop and talk and there's others that really want some time to decompress before meeting/greeting fans."

If your goal is to have a quick chat/get an autograph from one or more of the performers, the place for that is the stage door. Chances are very good that anyone you see backstage will be very quickly in passing, and they're either still working or on their way out of work. If the person who's escorting you knows that you'd like to meet someone in particular, they might try to arrange a brief "hello," but don't anticipate any more than that.

Going backstage is a very cool experience, but don't get your expectations unrealistically high. Since you're going to a matinee, everyone will be in a hurry to leave to get dinner or collect their delivery food and retreat to their dressing rooms.

Most importantly, enjoy the experience and take as many mental pictures as you can.
