Posted: 10/3/06 at 5:27pmI had a backstage tour for the Lion King but only because I have a friend in the orchestra so that was free. It is definetly interesting to see the stage and what not. Every piece of the set in it's place. I don't know how much the tours are running for though. If it's between 25- 50 bucks I'd say sure it's a fun bonus. But more then that, then I might pass. However, I didn't see the backstage of Wicked, which might be more exciting because of the size of the theatre and production.

You can get tickets to the backstage tour of Wicked on
http://www.broadway.com -- it's called "BEHIND THE EMERALD CURTAIN"
It's actually a lot of fun. Just - be prepared to see a huge number of teenage girls there with you.
Click HERE to get tickets for it.

Posted: 10/3/06 at 7:17pmI did the backstage tour for The Lion King when it was still at the New Amsterdam Theatre. It was alright, nothing really special. The best part of it was being able to walk on the stage (especially since the New Am has so much history behind it). You also get to hold some of the masks they use which was interesting.

Posted: 10/3/06 at 7:28pmIf the tour is coming anywhere near you, most of the cast is more than happy to give you a tour. John Plumbus (sp?) gave a couple of my friends tours of the backstage area and let them walk around on stage. My tech. director had the privelge to show us around. It was unguided, and they kind of just let us wander around, which was cool because we could touch and stand on the stage, which was really cool to see the theater from that point of view.
