Have you ever seen a show, or participated in a show where the cast received a bad reception from the crowd (ie booing or no clapping?).

Once. It was for me. But, it was Chilren's theater and I was playing Blackbeard in 'Treasure Island'. I was exactly a likeable character. I actually WANTED them to boo me. It just meant I gave a good performance. Heh heh...

No, but I was at a show at The New York Theatre Workshop where they shouldn't have. Eyewitness Blues. Good mother of God. What was that awful piece?
I was in a show once in HS and one of the leads passed a kidney stone while on stage, she doubled over in pain and forgot all her lines, she tried to struggle through but had to run from the stage in tears. The "audeince" booed but our drama teacher came out on stage and chewed them out. It was bad

Many years ago I saw a college production of a "new" musical that involved a trial and at the end, the lead character came forward and said that the verdict would be in the audience's hands; If we liked the show, we should vote "Not Guilty" and the cast would perform another song. If not, and we found him guilty, the cast would act out his execution.
Members of the audience were quite vocal that they found the show horrible and the lead actor "Guilty." In fact, one patron found it necessary to stand up and yell "Kill the motherF****r already!" when the cast pretended that the audience was voting "Not Guilty." They hadn't even prepared for a "guilty" verdict and always performed the song, which often provoked the crowd to storm out.
Yes I saw the revival of Glenngarry glenn ross on sat matinee. The biggest applause was for the set change between act 1 and act 2. When the show ended everyone looked around at each other whether or not to clap. The cast is amazing, but the audience definitely did not like the show. There were about 6 people in the orchestra standing and i think they were the only ones really clapping.

You want to hear "Boo!", go to the opera.

Well, Kevin Cahoon gets booed at Chitty, but that's because he's so GOOD at playing the villain that the audience doesn't separate it from the actor! I still feel a little bad for him though, while I'm sure he knows that it's because his character is disliked and not him, it must be strange to do your curtain call among a chorus of boos.

Good Lord! I guess so!! I think the passing of a kidney stone is definitely one exception to "the show must go on" rule, at least for the kidney stone passer.
