BadKarma719 sees HAIRSPRAY 3/12

ok so this will be the second time I have see the show and this NEW cast was great it was as followed

Fill-ins for that performance only
Dynamite- CJay Hardy Philip
Joshua Bergasse- Swing
Tracy T- Shannon Durig
Seaweed - Eric L. Christian
Spritzer...-JP Dougherty

all others same as listed

I thought the cast was right on, Shannon was great and high energy the whole show, better then when I saw Cathyin it. Bruce as Edna took some getting used to however I did enjoy him, it was the first time that I could listen to "you're timeless to me" and I liked it with all his little improv linesEric as Seaweed was no where near what Chester G did hte last time but he still was fun to see.
I know a lot of people have see this show so I'm not going to go on about every detail however if you have ??s post and I'll reply

Wow- FIVE people out for one performance! You can tell Harvey is gone- he NEVER would have allowed that!

I'm gla to hear you enjoyed it. Some recent posters would have you believe the show wasn't delivering.

I saw it the next day 3/13 for the first time. I absolutely loved the show and it delivered. I took my mom and she loved it too. The only understudy on for 3/13 3pm show was in the role of Seaweed, we had the 2nd understudy..Tommar Wilson I believe his name was. He was as fabulous as the rest of the cast!
Carly was great..Bruce was great....the show overall was one of the best Ive seen.

Shannon Durig was good as Tracy? Wow..1 point for AMDA. She's a 2002-2003 graduate. Do you have a playbill? Does she mention the academy in her bio?

re: BadKarma719 sees HAIRSPRAY 3/12

I've seen her several times and thought she was great! I have never seen an understudy in her role, just once as Amber and twice as Penny. But I saw Kela on the Tour and thought she was great too, just played the role a little more mature, not as giddy, but both of their takes on the role worked for me.

I have a friend who tried to see it 5 times because he really liked Carly, and every time he went, she was out. That's why I raised the question. I personally didn't like the show, and have only seen Marissa Winouker as Tracy.

Shannon as Tracy was excellent. I saw it 3/15 and really, I couldn't imagine anyone else playing the part. It really doesn't sound like Carly is there that often, but personally, I didn't mind.

People like you are the reason I'm on medication.
