I'm glad they got rid of her- she was soooooo miscast. So wrong in every way from sound (that accent- yikes, or should I say attempt of an accent.) She lwas struggling with the role when I saw it last week and was clearly uncomfortable. her chemistry was non existant with Golde.

Hire Lainie Kazan! Now she's the PERFECT Yente!

She is the sister in law of Sheldon Harnick and the mother of one of the producers. There was an earlier thread about this. I think it is sad. I was hoping she would be great. Remember, it's the little things you do together...

It is sad. Even if she was not right for the part, it's awful to hear she was fired so quickly. I hope she finds something right for her soon. Lainie Kazan is a decent enough idea, but I fear her personality would dominate the stage. She's just so larger-than-life (in a good way), that she could easily upstage everyone in the show without batting an eye. Linda Lavin on the other hand....

All the suggestions are great, but it's going to Nancy Opel according to Broadway.com. I think she has the personality for it. I think the role suits her.
