Bare On Broadway

I've heard this idea thrown around but I don't really like it. On one hand, i want it to run for a while, but on the other hand, I love the intimate setting and I don't want them to change it. Do you think it would happen?

re: Bare On Broadway

Um..... why is Broadway un intimate?? It TOTALLY depends on the theatre.. as long as it stays in a smaller space, they are fine.

A Broadway run IS hoped for and according to numerous people I spoke to who are a part of the show, a Broadway run will be decided on and discussed depending on how the next off-Broadway run goes and if a transfer happens, it will likely be just before Tony time.

re: Bare On Broadway

The fact is that the economics of a show with such a large cast almost mandates that it must go to Broadway if it wants an open ended run. They are currently operating under an Equity showcase contract which allows the producers to pay the actors a substantially reduced salary for up to a period of six weeks. Once that expires (May 27th), the producers must pay at least the regular Equity minimum which would make it impossible for the show to even break even at $40, $50, or even $60 per ticket, especially in a theatre that small. Even the larger commercial Off-Broadway houses (Union Square, Little Shubert, Variety Arts) mean very small profit margin at best for running a show this big, so the producers are better off aiming for a smallish Broadway house (The Booth, The Hayes, Circle In The Square) where the show can remain intimate, but the economics make sense.

re: Bare On Broadway

I would love to see Bare on or off-Broadway. It's a truly amazing production and I really hope it goes far whichever route it takes. Although this cast is phenomenal, I'm anxious to see the cast changes for the September production.
