You know, this is really funny. Having performed in a few L.I. theatre shows myself, the production quality really is a mixed bag. Sometimes you can have excellent productions that can rival regional theatre, and then there are some that are low for even bad community theatre standards. So, you really have to take into consideration when you are judging these performers that they might NOT be of that caliber of what you are expecting, and judge accordingly. I haven't seen this production yet, but I think it is unfair and unnecessary for you to criticize any performer in this fashion. They are not getting paid for this most likely, and it is not a production that should be held to those standards.
P.S. I concur, WonderRobbie....you can count on L.I. theatre for the drama, and not the kind that you should be getting on stage.

Allright, I'm totally a self proclaimed B****. and I'm a pretty harsh theater critic. I have not seen Bare yet, allthough I have made plans to do so. With that said, I have worked with every member of that cast on several occasions over the years. That is one talented Cast. I can't say they were cast correctly, I can not say, they were directed well, nor can I say, they did well in these Roles, But I know they are all Extremely talented.
With that said, If you don't like Rich Martino as a person DON'T SEE THE SHOW. If you don't Like his Face, DON"T SEE THE SHOW. and if you don't care for his talent DON"T SEE THE SHOW. But to publicly rip a person a part for things that have NOTHING TO DO with the discussion on how he is IN THE SHOW, is just childish.
And to add to that, In response to Rich Martino "sleeping His way to the Top" Which By the top you mean LI theater which really who gives a Rats A**. You would in theory be saying he has slept with Bruce, Tony, and Noel. Last I checked, Bruce is Straight, and Tony and Noel are pretty happily married. So umm Yeah. Get Over it.
Wow - has this post gotten off subject, or what?
I know that BARE isn't exactly at the "top" news, no doubt - but I'm looking forward to seeing it. Uptown Players are in the TOPS of presenting quality product.
If you don't mind my asking? As opposed to starting a new thread (which I know that members on this board HATE! LOL) Can anyone reading THIS actually tell me what they THOUGHT of the play? It's not going to change my thoughts on GOING, as my tickets are BOUGHT, but I have this tendancy (Imagine THAT!) that the "opinions" on this BOARD are (more or less) recommendations in which I can truly trust. Chason thanks you! :)

yes, Chason, I can. I saw it, and i knew nothing about it before i went. I LOVED the show. It is a very serious story, with great music and very moving scenes. the script delves into several different relationships from different angles. Even though the theme is gay, there are moments that anyone can relate to. There is one scene where Rich Martino is trying to tell his mother that he is gay. she will not listen. It is my favorite scene, because although it is about being gay, we can all relate to the scene in our relationships with our parents. Frankly, I thought it was Rich's best scene in the show. He moved me with his absolute desperation.
In any case, i think you will enjoy the show. Let me know. Thanks.
