Hi guys!
I was looking at a production of "Barnum", and thinking of auditioning...
Just wondering...How old do they usually cast Jenny Lind? And what is her required vocal range?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Posted: 12/29/06 at 5:02pmJenny Lind is usually cast in her mid-to-late twenties. She has a legit first soprano range (to A or B-flat) which should sound warm and not forced (a high mezzo could possibly pull it off). She also needs to be able to pass off as Swedish (she speaks all her lines in a Swedish accent). Warmth, simplicity and charm are essential. Depending on the size of the production, you may have to help out in the ensemble as well, and any circus ability (juggling, etc.) would be helpful.
