You're kidding right? You must not know the show at all
Sally Bowles is meant to be a child playing dress up. That's the whole point. Liza Minelli was 26. Jill Haworth was 21. Judi Dench had just turned 30. Just cause the Mendes revival has cast women who are far to old to play the part doesn't mean it's right. A Sally who is too old is unforgivable in her blindness to what's going on around her. A 40 year old Sally who is naive and can't understand the horror happening outside? That's absurd. I'll leave you with this quote from Christopher Isherwood's novel..
"How old are you, Sally?" "Nineteen"
