Bass René Pape - OMG!

I've been out of the recent opera loop. I'm sure those of you who've kept up have heard him if not of him. Just caught the last 1/2 of Pape singing Leporello's aria on PBS w/The Vienna Philharmonic.

Yup, his site says he's been at the Met since 1995... Wow! has it been that long for me?

"He has appeared at the Met every season since 1995, and has given role debuts of four major roles there: Méphistophélès in Faust, Gurnemanz in Parsifal, Escamillo in Carmen, and the Old Hebrew in Samson et Dalila."

This fella could make me start going to the Met again! From what I hear it seems he can sing! he can act! and he's easy on the eyes....

He's singing King Philip in Don Carlo in Nov/Dec @ the Met. I'll be there to ck him out in a full role.

Chillen' if y'all wanna hear what may be some tasty good basso singin' getchoselves down there for what just might be a wonderful discovery... I might even ck out some of the tenor & sops.
