Have there been any updates recently about the film adaptation of Bat Boy? The last I'd heard, John Landis was interested in directing, and they were going to be filming in October 2007.
Obviously, that didn't happen.

From IMDB:
We're sorry but the listing has been removed because we've been unable to verify the eligibility of the film to be included at the database at this time.
Please remember that, as stated on our site, we normally list only films that have been completed and released, or that are filming or in advanced pre-production. At this time we could not find any third party evidence (i.e. verification from sources not involved with the production) to support this.
For more details please see:
http://www.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?titlesinproduction
If/when the project becomes eligible you are welcome to resubmit it and, if you provide enough data to allow our editors to verify its eligibility, we'll be happy to re-add it. Otherwise it will have to wait until it has been completed and released or shown to the public at a qualifying screening (e.g. a film festival).
Thank you for your understanding.

I think that if Landis dropped out as director or they were looking for someone to direct it, I would think a perfect director for it would be Tim Burton because the material seems like it would be perfect for him. Bat Boy is one of the few musicals including Sweeney that I can see Burton directing.
I actually had a thought on some of the cast for a Burton directed Bat Boy like maybe Depp as Edgar, Jim Carrey as Dr. Parker, Sacha Baron Cohen as Reverend Hightower, Meryl Streep as either Meredith or Mrs. Taylor, Helena Bonham Carter as either Meredith or Mrs. Taylor, Amanda Bynes or Kristen Bell as Shelley.

Matthew Morrison would be hilarious in that role. And what a voice to sing that score. It makes me laugh just to think of him rattling about in the cage and the cutup faces he would make for the role.
Let us hope if it gets made they get someone who understands theatre.

Hmmm. I've seen Bat Boy three times and it never stayed with me that they were twins. Brother and sister, yes. Twins, that went right past me. Is there any reason they'd need to be twins in a movie?
Just coming from a morning viewing of Sweeney Todd makes me wonder how that big-eyed guy who plays Anthony would do as Edgar. He certainly is young enough and weird enough to be only part human.

He would actually be very good.
Yes, they are twins...but since they are boy and girl they don't necessarily have to look that much a like. I would not say Deven May and Kerry Butler look anything alike.

-Adam Shankman.

I am pretty sure they are twins because she gets accosted by her husband then by the bats if I remember correctly. And one child was normal(Shelly) and the other part bat(Edgar).
And yes Mardsen is too old for the film version to play Edgar. He is supposed to be a teenager.

I would love to have the film made.
Maybe it could be on Showtime or places like that. You know, I would really love to score the film.
