Good Lord My head is spinning! Which to buy? Bat Boy or Kiss of the Spider Woman
I absolutely love Anthony Crivello and Brent Carver however Kerry Butler rocks my socks
I love a good drama but I love Comedy
Laurence O'Keefe is great but I Kander and Ebb are wonderful
WHICH TO BUY?!?!?!?! I can't get both!
I say Bat Boy!
Spider Woman. Not even a question. One of the most moving and beautifully-written pieces in years.
Then again, I'm biased. :^)

Aww!! Glad you like the website. It needs serious updating.
Maybe that's how I'll spend Valentine's day...
:^)
Count me two for Bat Boy because I'm ULTRA cute!
Kiss of the Spider Woman: 2
Bat Boy: 5
Bat Boy
What are YOUR tastes? Both shows are well-executed and very entertaining. 'Spider Woman' has more of a traditional sound and is, obviously, more of a musical drama. 'Bat Boy' leans more toward rock and is a comedic show (although there's a lot of heart to it.)
They're apples and oranges. I think any collector of musical theater would want both scores. As for which one you might want NOW -- well, again, do you want to laugh or do you want something dramatic? Do you want a louder guitar show or something with a more traditional theater orchestration?
Excellent point. Right now I'm in the mood for something more along the lines of Urinetown than Parade.
In which case, I suppose Bat Boy would suit your mood better right now.
But get Spider Woman next. :)
Bat Boy!!

STOP!
Spend your money on THE GOLDEN APPLE and HOUSE OF FLOWERS.
My point being that there are much better show recordings to spend your money on if you can only buy one. If you already own the two I suggested drop me a note and I can make some others.

Oh, forget grampaw up there! Can't answer the question as asked! "Buy somethin' old, sonny, cuz in MY day we walked 12 miles to a show in six feet of snow! MATLOCK!"
I think you should make the decision between the two shows you specifically asked about (ahem) in this way:
Which superhero powers do the two characters have and which one could beat up the other one in a fight? Bat Boy is obviously in some way related to Batman, maybe his son. Batman really doesn't have any superpowers, he's just a good detective in a cool suit with a cape. I would assume Bat Boy doesn't have superpowers, per se.
Spiderwoman is probably the wife of Spiderman. I'm assuming she was also bitten by a radioactive spider and therefore has womanly spider senses and can shoot webs from her wrist and fling herself from building to building.
Plus, she's a woman and Bat Boy is only a boy. So, obviously she could kick his butt.
So go with her.
Bat Boy has some novelty value. Kiss of the Spider Woman is one of THE great musicals of all time with a truly awesome score. No contest. No lover of serious musical theater should be without KOTSW
I love FindingNamo's logic!!!
i say bat boy all day. i love it and its fun as well as very interesting musically.
will
I'm going to go with Bat Boy and then get KOTSW in a couple weeks. This is purely because Bat Boy is 3 Bucks less...
Get both. I'm borrowing my director's cast recording of Kiss of a Spiderwoman and I'm addicted to it. The music is beautiful. I love the dark glow the music leaves on you after a song. Oh and Brent Carver rocks. But Bat Boy is just so different. Bat Boy is a one-of-a-kind musical. Its twisted and thats why I like it. Plus its great when Kerry Butler raps. If you love Kerry Butler, get the Prodigal recording by the York Theatre Company. The score for this show is really good.
