Batman Musical-Being "Re-Written"?

BEFORE I START TALKING, I don't want to get anybody's hopes up because this is more of a question for all of you than news from me.
A friend of mine who's an actor, done a couple of things on Broadway and knows a few producers (I won't say his name here just in case he happens to read this) was talking to me the other day about shows coming out this season and we both pretty much came to the conclusion that there was very little that looked interesting. Then he said something like "Later down the road, I want to see BATMAN." I replied that I was really hoping for that one myself but hadn't heard any real news since the original announcement of Tim Burton directing, which was years ago. He said that he had heard from several people that WB was still interested and was having the musical "Re-Written."
I am an enormous Batman fan from the time I was two, and even if this show happens and is total utter crap, I will probably still love it just because it's FREAKING BATMAN ON BROADWAY!!!! I think it's more likely that WB is scared off from theater (especially dark musical theater written by pop artists)and is wary because of the failure of Superman all those years ago...
Has anyone heard anything like this? Man, I would have an absolute fangasm if this happened. I hope that there is a little more to this than just speculation...

From this site's very own B'Way Pulse blog...
"Batman, The Musical Cont'd
I got a lot of emails from folks who were very excited to hear a glimpse of Batman, the Musical last week so I wanted to let you know that there's another 13 minutes of audio now available on composer Jim Steinman's site. Jim's blog sets up the scene for (what was to be) the opening sequence of the show introducing the audience to Gotham City and its many denizens. In addition to some great piano work and new tunes, the demo features New York City Opera Star Emily Pulley, and Steinman himself on the opening number (part of which you might recognize as having been pulled into Dance of the Vampires' opening ) and Batman's first tune as he looks out on Gotham City and sings about working "The Graveyard Shift." The 23 meg, 13 minute mp3 can be downloaded here. Enjoy! More great tunes from a composer that's never strayed too far from the world of theatre, but one hopes will gravitate back closer to it before too long.

Even if your actor friends reads this, he'll still know you're talking about him.
I doubt you have more than one friend who knows about BATMAN.
Not being rude, just saying.
And yes, the songs that I've heard are very cool. And I agree that Batman shouldn't sing in his batsuit. Actually, I'd like to see the story told more from Bruce Wayne instead of Batman, if that makes any sense.

Hearing about a Batman musical causes two different feelings in me to surface. One being that it could be really cool seeing Batman being brought to life on a stage other than a movie screen or theme park stage. The other one has strong feeling that even though the show would be a dark, serious musical that seeing actors as the characters in the comic books like Batman, The Joker, etc singing at different spots might make it seem like it was the old tv show all over again, but if they actually consider bringing Batman to the stage, I'll see it and hope that Tim Burton directs it and that he's there in the audience(I'm such a fan of his work).
The other thing you would have to think about is the batsuit cause I don't think anybody would want to wear a rubber latex batsuit with all those lights on you causing you to sweat alot, cause that suit doesn't breathe and weighs 50lbs and the cape and cowl weigh around 50lbs as well, so if they do a Batman musical then maybe what they should do is a more non-rubber batsuit.

I consider myself a "true" Batman fan, and I love Burton's Batman. I would go so far to say that "Batman Returns" is my favorite superhero movie of all time.
Besides, at least it's not Joel Shumacher presents Batman: With Nipples!

If they come up with a good stage musical version, why not consider Christian Bale ( Batman in the iconic version loved by movie geeks - Batman Begins) to do the musical, if his busy filming commitment allows it. I saw him in the movie musical NEWSIES when he was much younger, and he was a true triple threat!
