that is so sweet, winston89! the power of that show is unbelievable, it's so moving. It really changed my life and I am such a better person because of it. It is my life dream to be in any production of BATB!
mine was 6 paragraphs, they were very long too. I hope the judges actually take the time to read every person's essay. do you think they got a huge insane amount of entries?
I have no clue what tapioca's beef is with me, I just try to ignore it. Thanks so much to those who defend me!

I wrote a pretty short, sweet and to the point essay, because I figured that the people reading them would probably be very tired of reading really long ones. I hope i made the right choice =/. It was just a lengthy paragraph.
I wrote about my experience playing Belle in Beauty and the Beast (which was the first leading role I ever had). It was very short, but I really did mean everything I said. BATB has changed me soooo much. I really hope I win.... even though I doubt I will.

I talked about how teaching special ed has helped me to really and truly learn that each of us has a little Belle AND a little Beast in all of us, and we have to work together to bring about transformations in each other.
Eh...I'm a geek.
I truly wish everyone good luck!

Posted: 7/17/07 at 2:04pmLizzya9 - I actually played Belle in my school's production of BATB. It's been my dream role for years and years, so I was ecstatic when I got it, even though it was only a school production. It was an incredible experience nevertheless. BATB is such an amazing show!

that's awesome! I'm begging my drama teacher to do it for our school.
yah, I think they should also include plane tickets. But I'd totally find a last-minute flight, it'd be worth it.

I hope they include plane tickets, if I won, I don't think my parents would pay to fly me and probably my sister there...

Posted: 7/17/07 at 5:19pmI entered yesterday. I wrote how BatB inspired me to write, direct and star as the Beast in my own production of the show, co-starring my first-grade class. I was such a young theatre dork.

I don't want to seem like a b*tch here, and I'm just wondering...
The contest specifically tells people to write about their favorite "scene" or "moment" within the show. So I would assume they would want people to write a brief paragraph...like a lot of people wrote multiple paragraphs on how the show inspired them to perform or on their overall experience performing in the show. But was there a specific favorite moment or scene that you enjoyed that caused you to feel this way? Did people actually answer the question they were asking?
Again, I'm not trying to be rude about anything - wishing everyone the best of luck!

I understand what your saying. You don't sound like a b*tch at all. My essay was based on a favorite onstage moment that reminded me of the experience I had performing the show (if that makes any sense at all... I'm not really sure how to explain it without sharing my whole essay) I believe that's what many others did as well (from what I've heard and inferred), they wrote about a moment in the show that inspired them or changed their lives, or caused them to do something, but I'm really not sure....
Yeah, this post makes hardly any sense at all. Sorry, I'm not very good at explaining things....

Yes, mine was based on the transformation scene.
However, it does say "essay" and that generally consists of more than one paragraph if you want to be technicall about it.

Posted: 7/18/07 at 12:49pmwell it says "scene" OR "memory" of the show, so I took the "memory" part as permission to write about the show in general. For "scene", it would have been one particular part of the show on stage, but "memory" meant that you could just write about your memory of the entire show and the experience you had with it. that's how I looked at it, anyway.
