The best Belle by the way is on the German Recording. Her name is Leah Delos Santos

I saw Tina. She was pretty good. Her voice was brilliant but her acting was just so-so. Most of the songs were just belted, e.g Cabaret & Maybe This time, which is fine, but there really didnt seem to be too much behind what she way saying. I did like her though.
Most of the reviewers raved about Tobey Allen (the Emcee) who went from being in a boyband to Cabaret, and back! His understudy was good too, lol.

Also, if I remember the story correctly, this was one of his first jobs and I think he had a singing teacher to prepare since he was not a trained singer. And there's a very funny story he tells about wearing red tights and what happened after he hit a high note at the end of the song "Me" at one performance... let's just say he shouldn't have drank as much water as he did.

Hugh is usually refreshingly candid in his interviews, especially with Aussie media. He shares the amusing anecdote from Beauty and the Beast here :

I would love to hear him talk about his experiences with THE BOY FROM OZ (behind the scenes and audience interactions).

I saw Cabaret with Lisa McCune as Sally.
The show absolutely blew me away. It was toward the end of the run, so Lisa's voice was tired, but I never knew she was such a good singer.
I wish I found this thread earlier

Unfortunately I don't live in Melbourne. I'm from the Gold Coast.
Gee. I hadn't noticed half of the Aussies here. I'm glad I found this thread!

that sounds incredible!!!
most of those shows haven't even been heard of over here (by anyone but me!)!!!
although my favourite Sheetmusic shop in Brisbane is now filled with the Wicked Vocal Score. Last count was about 50.
*sigh*
And people I do shows with have just discovered Wicked and think it's the greatest show since Starlight Express.

"I have a few big belting notes in this song. And I pick up Belle and I'm carrying her across, and as I'm carrying, I realise, "Oh, my God. I think I've just wet my pants," just a little bit, right? And I managed to hold onto it. But by holding onto it and stopping the flow, shall we speak, I also stopped the note, so I was, like, "Oh, my God. It's piss your pants or sing. This is my 'Sophie's Choice'."
" And as I let go and I let rip with the note, alas, phew...out it came. And I figured, "What the hell?" I wasn't gonna miss the note."
"Of course, I realise these tights are a little bit thick, so I thought, "Maybe they're like a wetsuit." I thought, "I'm gonna end up with a bootful of piss but at least I'm not gonna be humiliated."

The guy has no shame - sharing that story with everyone - LOL!
I have recently obtained a video of Hugh stuff, including some official clips from BEAUTY AND THE BEAST - including one where he lifts Belle and carries her over his shoulder ...![]()
