Neither are Broadway's finest, but I had to choose, I would go with The Lion King. If anything, it's not great set design and costumes and a couple of moving parts (minus the annoying kids in Act 1). Beauty and the Beast does feel like it belongs at Disney amusement park... This is coming from a girl that's lived near Disneyland nearly all her life. LOL! :)

It's been a while since I've seen either one, but I enjoyed Beauty and the Beast much more. It was one of my favorite childhood movies, and I have to admit that I like the story, even if it isn't very profound. The Lion King was beautiful, but aside from the visual aspect, I was a little underwhelmed. Maybe because so many people loved it, and I had such high expectations.

I really liked the Disney movie of The Lion King, then I saw it on Broadway and didn't really like it as much. I definitly like Beauty and the Beast a lot better. Then again, that is my school musical this year so I'm kind of biased.

Never liked Beauty and the Beast...Lion King was much more entertaining-beautiful production.

Back, he spurred like a madman, shrieking a curse to the sky. With the white road smoking behind him and his rapier brandished high! Blood-red were the spurs i' the golden noon; wine-red was his velvet coat, when they shot him down on the highway, down like a dog on the highway, and he lay in his blood on the highway, with the bunch of lace at his throat... (The Highwayman. Sung by: Loreena McKennitt)

Jenny, totally understand...sad, but I get it. I felt the same way about Wicked. I thought it was going to be so great. After the first act ended, I kinda sat in my seat thinking kinda diappointed, and thought it was ok, but it could have been so much better. That's why I try not to get too excited going into a show or else you totally get disappointed.

Beauty and the Beast definitely. It has a superior score in my opinion, and I do not think the story is childish at all. There are themes of tolerance and compromise, among others, that I think speaks to people of all ages...

Sorry sounds a bit preachey, but seriously. It's better.

The key to the mystery of a great artist is that for reasons unknown, he will give away his energies and his life just to make sure that one note follows another... and leaves us with the feeling that something is right in the world. ~Leonard Bernstein~
