So, I'm considering seeing GLASS MENAGERIE in early March and I found $39 tickets, but it's at Balcony Right. How good is the view from up there?
I saw BLACKBIRD from the balcony, and it was awful. They really shouldn't sell it. Between the ceiling and the railing, a tiny sliver of the stage was visible. Luckily, 99% of the play was staged in that sliver, but I would not sit in the balcony again.
back in the day, I saw many a show from up there, including some I will always cherish. One piece of advice that sounds counter-intuitive is to get the back row. not only is the angle better but if something is cut off you can always stand up or sit on the seat in the "up" position if you are being blocked. Whether the side sections have any obstructed seats will of course depend on the production.
I was going to say I sat in the last row right of the balcony for blackbird and it was an incredible view for being two levels up. I moved there from the middle of the left section, which also seemed like a great view, because a woman was playing musical chairs with herself and the usher was snoring.
