"'There's been something rather... distracting about your posts lately, Tiff.'
You mean the generally high quality in them, right?"
Naturally. What else could I mean?
"But golly gee, Chloe, if there's something that's distracting you too much, maybe I should just take down the distraction all together. God forbid I make you unproductive!"
Let's not be hasty. Don't you think productivity is often overrated?
Took a look at the bidding, and someone seems to be adding on one cent to a previous bid - cheapskate! But Stacey, why not go for it. Decide on your limit, and if you lose you're not out anything. Good luck!

It wasn't a one cent bid, it was $25.01, then $25.
Sorry! I was only kidding, anyway. So far the price doesn't seem to be skyrocketing, so maybe you have a chance, Stacey.
$10,000?!? I hope you guys don't misinterpret my aghast as me ragging on BC/EFA - I happy for them getting as much as they can for their cause. I just can't believe people have that much disposable income! I would initially say that I don't think anyone would pay $10,000 to go onto the RENT set because it's all the way in SF and there probably aren't too many locals up to paying that sort of dough, but then I realized anyone who can drop $10,000 on that can probably drop a few more grand on travel arrangements, so I'll shut up now.
Meh. I'd rather someone spend $10,000 and help out this benefit than the $3000+ that was going for Boy From Oz closing night tickets right into the sweaty little hands of scalpers!
EDIT: WHERE THE HELL DID MY AVATAR GO???
*squeak*
What I wouldn't give...
Why pay all that money to get a tour from Anthony when you can just as easily hang with him on Broadwayworld.com?

Exactly my thinking.
Plus, about actually having that much disposable income--the only reason I'd even have even close to this much money to use on something like that is because of my batmitzvah 3+years ago, and the gift money not donated to charity already (as in immediately following the batmitzvah) will probably sit in a bank nevermore to be touched by me or anyone besides the bank people unless i use it for something. I'm definitely the type of person that saves money a lot (and if I spend I never remove from my bank account to do so, I'll use only what's in the wallet already or birthday/chanukah money I have somewhere undeposited..and even then I can be really cautious and take forever to debate pros and cons before I reallly buy something bigger than a book/cd) Some of the people that gave me gifts that night (technically those nights as the party was cancelled b/c my uncle died on 9-11 three weeks prior, so the service was still 10/6/01, and then the party was rescheduled for 5/4/02 later down the road) said to use it for something I really want and I wouldn't be surprised if it never gets used at this point unless I actaully do something about it. I could waitandwaitandwait and see if I need it in thirty years, but now would be so sweet... (and there's barely anything as for interest these days anyway)
Then for the travel arrangements--those could be cheap with someplace like jetblue..not nearly 100's of dollars-- (and my dad is saying something about a medical conference sometime in march now, so maybe I wouldn't have to pay for that either...and he'd definitely go jetblue or cheaper if that exists).
And the friend I'd bring would be someone from near SF, so that'd save a *little* heh (And I'd be so happy if I got the chance to be with my friend for a whole day too--she moved out of town back to ca just as we were becoming really close...)
I'm trying to think this all out thoroughly before I do anything rash...

LOL--yes...
(and StateofJade--I love your sig)
and thanks for all the luck...
while i'm hoping for their sake the price goes decently, i'm hoping for me (so selfish i know) that it stays within my range heh

Today (Saturday 11/4) is the last day of the auction. I checked the site a few minutes ago, and bidding is up to nearly $11,000 - great for BCEFA and the Rent movie, not so great for some hoping to bid lower than that. I wonder who the lucky winner will be?

I'm happy to see it up so high. BCEFA is a great organization and needs the $$ to continue its great work. I just hope that those people who do not have the winning bid will still make a donation to the organization.
