Bernadette Peter's Changing GYPSY Past, What Gives?

Unless I am mistaken, I believe that for the past several years in Bernadette's concerts she has been saying that her bio says that she played Dainty June in the first or second national tour of GYPSY and that "it's a lie." The part was actually played by "Suzy" and we should tell Suzy that Bernadette owes her an apology, etc...cause Bernadette's mother put it in Bernadette's bio that she played Dainty June, instead of one of the Hollywood Blondes, cause she thought it would help her career, etc. etc.

those of us who have seen her concerts and heard her live cd have heard her tell this story....

and now...

on the tony awards,,,unless i have lost my mind:

Bernadette said that she played Dainty June in the national tour of GYPSY!!!

so which is true? was the first "concert" story simply charming made up fodder and what Bernadette said on the Tony's the truth, or vice versa???

Can anyone clear this up for me???

I've watched the Gypsy segment and Bernadette's performance many many many times. But I can't remember what exactly she says. I'll have to check later.

If I remember correctly ...

Bernadette was a Hollywood Blonde, and an understudy for Dainty June. I think she did go on as June, so I guess saying she played the role is technically accurate. I think Bernadette's mom just eliminated the fact that Bernadette was the June u/s.

I'll have to go back and watch it again too but I don't remember her saying she was Dainty June on the Tonys. I thought she just said she was in the second national tour when she was a kid.

I believe she said..."i was in the 2nd national company." I don't remember her mentioning which role she played. But like I said, I'd have to watch again to be sure.

I'm positive she didn't say Dainty June. She didnt even say she was in the second national tour. She just said she was in the show when she was 13, or when she was younger or something to that effect. But she never said what part she played.

She said she played a Hollywood Blonde and went on in the role of Dainty June once b/c she was the understudy (actually, I think she went on for a week as June b/c the girl playing June was out). Either way, she was not officially Dainty June and that's why she fealt her mother lied on the bio.

no i watched the video this morning. she doesn't mention anything about what character she played. She does say, and I hope this is the last time, but she said that she was in the 2nd national company when she was 13 yrs. old. then she rambles on about being in the biz since she was 3 or whatnot.
