Best Broadway Child
Best Broadway Child#0
Posted: 9/3/04 at 12:03amI want to get everyone's opinion on the best child to light up the Broadway stage. I believe Daisy Egan from Secret Garden should get the Gold, the young actor who played Colin in Secret Garden the Silver, and bronze going to Christy Ramano in Parade.

Posted: 9/3/04 at 12:07amThat kid in Boy From Oz is amazing... I just saw a clip, but my roomie who saw the show talked about him nonstop and he sings pretty well for a little kid...

Mitchel David Federan - Boy From Oz
Lil' Inez (I saw Sabrina Reitman, but Danelle was awesome on the CD) - Hairspray
Alicia Morton - Annie (not Bway, but she was in Les Mis)
Heather Tepe - Gypsy

Posted: 9/3/04 at 12:13amcan't remember his name but my vote also goes to the kid from Boy From Oz. as much as it pains me to say anything good about that show, he was outstanding. anyone know the age of the gal who played Baby June in the last Gypsy revival? she was quite good too.

Posted: 9/3/04 at 12:14amI believe she was 10 or 11 although she looked like she was younger. Amazing talent for such a young age!

Posted: 9/3/04 at 12:15amMitchel David Federan was the kid from Boy From Oz. And Heather Tepe, Baby June in Gypsy, was 11 or 12, I think.

Posted: 9/3/04 at 12:15amI always love Gavroche, or whatever that little boy in Les Mis' name is! He breaks my heart. If that was my son up there I swear I would sit in the audience every night and bawl!

Posted: 9/3/04 at 12:19amI agree with the girl who played Mary in Secret Garden. She's amazing. But Colin? I did *not* like his voice. BTW, I had no idea that was John Cameron Mitchell as Dickon until very recently... hehe

if that's the case, then I change my vote to Baby June! i remember being amazed by her polished dancing and strong singing voice. i was in the balcony though so part of me suspected she may have been older than she looked, like 15-17. i've seen a 23 year old Mary in Secret Garden. she was short but it was odd.

Posted: 9/3/04 at 12:25amEither Mitchell David Federan or William Ullrich---both extremely talented youngsters.

the gypsy child...annoying
beauty of voice is what matters...

Posted: 9/3/04 at 12:27amYeah the Gypsy girl was annoying---I almost killed myself. But I guess thats the nature of the part.
re: Best Broadway Child#15
Posted: 9/3/04 at 12:52amshe annoyed the hell out of me, which is exactly what she was supposed to do. by the end at stage door I wasn't sure whether I would ask for her autograph or strangle her. luckily I was rushed off by my friend and never had to make that decision.

What's really funny is that when I read this, I was thinking of a person born to Broadway parents....
And of course I thought Liza Minelli.
Now that I understand that actual post, I also vote for Mitchel David Federan. Simply incredible.
