Last night I went to the Anastasia Box Office around 6:00 since I've heard that they have SRO after the show sells out, and often that's not until pretty late. They said it wasn't likely to sell out (evening of a two show day, so maybe that had to do with it), so we went a street over and got last minute $30 tickets (excellent seats) to The Play That Goes Wrong, which was definitely a good call because the show rocked.
Any other recommendations for best shows to try for after work?
Bandstand is a consistently easy rush. They almost always have tickets left up until curtain. War Paint varies day to day but you should be fine for a week night.

Groundhog Day is easy as well. (Before 9/17 of course.)

I'm so glad you enjoyed Play That Goes Wrong! Another really easy rush is Bronx Tale! It's not a perfect show, and it definitely isn't popular on these boards, but I want to at least say that I enjoyed it a lot, and the cast are perfect together. I enjoyed the music and choreography too, hahaha. Above all, at least for your case, it's an easy show to rush. I saw it on a Saturday night, and I got my ticket literally less than 20 minutes before curtain, and it was a fantastic seat!
