We always talk about peoples favorite shows. We never have talked about everyones favorite lighting design. Mine are:
1. Aida
2. Lion King (Seeing it on the 30th, I have heard great things)
3. Hairspray, love the light wall!
4. Movin' Out
5. Mamma Mia
That's all I can think of right now!:)

I loved the lighting for Aida, Miss Saigon and Hairspray. However, my favorite will always be Jane Eyre.

I'd have to agree with Hairspray. I love the wall in the back as well. The Lion King is great as well, with the sun rising in the very beginning, and night begininng to come in "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" Updated On: 7/14/03 at 02:36 PM

My favorite lighting would be Hairspray. Especially during "Welcome to the 60's".

Here are my favorite lighting dominated shows.........

1) Dance of the Vampires

2) Hairspray

3) Miss Saigon

4) Les Miserables

5) Phantom Of The Opera

*Just to remind people lighting also includes special effects, but also doesn't always mean spectacle. Sometimes the way that a single light may cast a certain shadow on a performer, whether lead or ensemble, can mean all the difference in the world as far as the look of the show!

I agree about the lighting for AIDA. Spectacular.

The lighting design for the latest INTO THE WOODS revival kicked butt! It was fabulous. Plus, there was the added lighting effect of Cinderella's Mother in the tree that was so effective.

Itty Bitty Geisha? Toyland? Gypsy Pasadoble? Just a few popular favorites...

Can you tell me a little bit about what was different between the original production and the revival production of Into The Woods, I have heard many great things about the revival, but just wondered what was different between the two!

Thanks!

Hairspray. Did anyone notice the gleam in Link's eye everytime he was love struck?
