No, no, no, the sinister anti-Billy cult that you are supposed to be leading, remember? Get with the times, man.
By the way, the bimonthly cult potlock luncheon is next Thursday at Maude's.

Wait - I thought he was accusing me of pushing for them to get a Special Tony as opposed to nothing!
But god damn I hate those Billys. I'm bringing the pasta salad!

(Honestly, I'm not quite sure of what precisely he was accusing you of... I'm not quite sure he was certain, either...)
But anyway, I'll bring the Kool-Aid. Wouldn't be a cult meeting without Kool-Aid, now would it?

Posted: 2/9/09 at 4:30pmIt depends on the history of the play. If it has never had a Broadway production but has had a "major" New York production, or multiple stagings on the regional circuit and is considered an entry in the theatrical repertoire, then odds are it will be considered in the revival category. Now, if it is a piece that was rediscovered or unearthed in the archives of a playwright and has never had any major production, either in New York or in the top tier regional companies then it would have a shot at being considered for Best Play as opposed to being deemed a revival, such as Tennessee Williams being nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play in 1999 with Not About Nightingales, even though he had written the play many years before and been dead for 16 years himself.
