I find that I'm usually interested in shows with heavy tenor roles. High belting usually from the tenor. I've found shows like Pippin have captured my attention. But Im kind of new to the broadway obsession.
What roles are the best tenor roles, most vocally difficult. Obviously what shows too. Thanks!

Phantom - Phantom of the Opera. It just SOUNDS difficult, to put that much passion into songs. But then again, I'm not very familiar with vocal ranges for men.

Billy Bigelow is a baritone role, like most (all?) R&H leading men.
Robert in Company is an awesome tenor role with one of the best tenor songs.

No, no, no...I'm not saying it's the best. Or the most challenging. But I'm just loving "Take a Chance on Me" right now.

Posted: 6/29/05 at 2:53amI know, everyone's probably sick to death of Piazza, but Fabrizio is another challenging tenor role, I think, because you have to use your falsetto and your belt, and the role calls for a legit sound as well.

the definite challenging roles that currently exist are (in random order)
- jesus and judas JCS
- valjean LM
- pippin and leading player Pippin
- bobby strong Urinetown
- mark RENT
and definitely...definitely galileo in We Will Rock You. it's an incredible sing - no bias of course...
