I think it's incredibly unfair to put someone on your worst list if you haven't seen them perform yet; Scary Spice, P. Diddy, etc. How can you judge if the show hasn't even begun performances or if the performer hasn't yet done the show once for the public? With that said........

Best: The Urchins in Little Shop, Kathy Brier in Hairspray, The entire original cast of Wicked, Bernadette Peters in Gypsy, Tammy Blanchard in Gypsy, Lisa Brescia as Amneris.
Worst: Will Chase in Aida

Audra as Elphaba???? Hmmmm...

About stunt casting-as some one else said, if Scary Spice, etc. turn out to be great in their roles, then fine, they get my respect. But I have never seen a SINGLE stunt casting that has been decent. Toni Braxton comes to mind as one of the worst performances I have ever seen. I'm not saying they can't, but from my experience I cannot say that stunt casting helps the show out in any way other than ticket sales.

I'm guilty of this, so... I posted them as poor casting *decisions*. If I had said something about the fact that their performances are going to be poor without having seen them, that would be unfair. Yes, I am implying that I think they won't do well, but that's because I still hold to my belief about stunt casting. I'm very much against it. I'd rather see a show close than see its integrity sacrificed by poor acting. Many of these "pop stars" can't act, and in a lot of the roles they're being cast for, a strong voice alone isn't going to carry that character. I also feel like going to see them would be hippocritical of me. If I'm so against this, I can't let my curiousity get the best of me and go support it. Like I said in a previous post, I think that my opinions on stunt casting are very much a product of one too many poor performances by actors who were stunt cast, which is unfortunate... but that's the way it is. Sorry if I seem like I'm being stubborn, but that's just my opinion.

Best: Sutton Foster in Millie, Kristin and Idina, the urchins in Little Shop, Hugh Jackman, Euan, Raul, Jeffry Carlson and actually most of the cast of Taboo, and of course Adam in Cabaret and pretty much anything else he's done...yum!

worst: I'll have to agree with most of you...I hate stunt casting...Toni Braxton, Joey Fatone, scary spice, P. Diddy, MELANIE GRIFFITH!! I also didn't like Nancy Lemenager in NGD. Her dancing is incredible but her singing just did not work at all!

I apologize if i sound rude and that im not "giving people a chance." but like others here, i am agains stunt casting in theory. If a person is good great! its a personal thing for me because i know i will sit there and see the actor and not the character. For example i will see Scary Spice running around on stage not Mimi.

I am however, seeing RENT on April 24th, with a huge group of friends. If i am lucky (me personally - not the entire audience!!) there will be an understudy. but if she is good then i will let all you guys know and she will def get my respect afterwards.

OO! side note!! -- i saw RENT last thrusday. Had to see it once before the stunt envasion started. There was an understudy for Mimi, - Dominique Roy .. she was PHENOMINAL!! i didnt hear great things about the current mimi but she was great!!
