I only saw three touring shows this year: American Idiot, War Horse, and Anything Goes (non-equity). The best was War Horse, and the worst was Anything Goes. The actress playing Reno was quite good, but the others not as good, and all of the big numbers just seemed underwhelming to me.

I thought the "Once" tour was excellent. "Motown," "Sister Act" and "Porgy and Bess" are all pretty terrible (the "Porgy" chorus was shockingly bad).

I typically only end up seeing tours of shows I am pretty sure I'm going to like so I didn't have any real disappointments this year.
I saw:
Evita- Saw the revival on Broadway 3xs and this cast really held up to it. Same issues I had w/ the broadway production still stood- no surprise.
Ghost- Only paid $20 so I can't really complain. I did enjoy it but I can see why this didn't last very long on broadway.
Jersey Boys- I saw this with older family members visiting me, wasn't something I would of seen on my own but I liked it. Probably wouldn't pay to see again. Just not my thing
Cinderella- Hadn't seen this show since I saw the OBC in previews on broadway but this cast was really strong. Saw it with people who hadn't seen this production before and they really enjoyed it and were wowed at times.
Phantom of the Opera- I could write pages about what is right and wrong with this new production but I'll spare you all. If you like Phantom I would say don't miss it, for better or worse. Some parts are brilliant restaging and others are creative cuts that feel like they were done just because. Some of the new recharacterizations are odd. Above all though, the set is really cool.
I skipped Porgy and Bess and Once. I love Once but by the time I went around to buying tickets all of the Orchestra was gone at the Straz Center and I couldn't justifiy $75+ for ridiculously far away seats for such an intimate show. Once is returning to Tampa in September so I will probably catch it then.
