When's the best day to see a show? For example, say a show runs Mon-Sat with matinees on Wed and Sat. Which day do you think the performers would perform their best? I'd imagine Saturday would have more people, hence there'd be more excitement. But that's the end of the week for them, so they'll probably be tired out. Plus, there's 2 performances that day. I could go on a weekday, but do you think the performers would put out their best for a weekday audience? Just wondering...
What are you thinking of seeing? (just curious)
Also-most shows are pretty even as far as performance goes. I find that Fri. and Sat. evenings tend to be the best. Although, I've had some really great performances other days of the week, including one Mon. night I went to.

Thanks for the advice. I'm thinking of seeing Les Mis. I've seen it a number of times already, but never with Lea Salonga in it. I just don't want to see it when she's tired out, you know. Of course, the worst would be if I walk in, sit down, open the playbill, and see a small piece of paper saying, "The role of Fantine will be played tonight by..."

Personally, I like Wednesdays or Saturdays...basically any day that I can see two shows.
I read an article awhile ago on this. I think it might have been interviewing Patrick Stewart, though I might be wrong. The suggestions went like this. Tuesdays the performers are coming back from their break. Kinda think of how you feel on Monday morning. They hit their stride mid week. Fridays and Saturdays are tourist nights (ah the rude theatre goers abound). Sundays are the end of a long week!
I always tend to see shows Wednesday or Thursdays.
I remember LuPone saying that Sat Eves are the worst audiences to play for. It's date night and at least half the audience doesn't really want to be there.
I'm a Thursday night kinda guy myself. However, for me it is more about the audience than the actors.
I love going at night. Saturday nights are good, you have the next day off!

Most shows have Sunday performances.

Well, Les Mis is on Mon-Sat, so no Sunday. I'm leaning towards Thursday/Friday. The nice thing about Friday is you don't have to work the next day. :) But maybe it'd be easier to get better seats on Thursdays.

Since Les Miz is such a long show, I would suggest going on a Tuesday night, since curtain is an hour earlier, and they already performed on Monday.
Today. Today is always the best day to see a show.
I'd probably say a tuesday, or whatever day comes after their first day back after their break. That way, they're fully re-aquainted with the role. I also like going on nights when I know the press will be there, because I feel the actors try harder to please the audience. Not that they don't do that anyway, but I just like to be sure. Patti LuPone is famous for saying that the most dedicated theatre goers go on Monday nights, so they can be the first to see the newest shows. She says she hates Saturday and Friday night audiences, cause they're mostly comprised of wives who have dragged their husbands to the show, only to sleep.
Anyday is a good day to see a show. Even with the possiblity of a stand-by/understudy. I saw Wicked (season tix) on a Sat. mat. and Coleen Sexton was on as Elphaba. She's was the best Elphaba I've seen. The other was Julia Murney.

Thanks for all the feedback! I ended up getting tickets for Tuesday! :)
Now to figure out a way to get Lea's autograph... :) I used to wait outside stage doors when I was a kid, but I haven't done that in years. Anyone have any tips? :)

I went on July 4th, and she was out within 5 minutes of me getting there - dunno how fast she usually comes out the stage door. She posed for pictures and signed autographs.
i agree..Every day is a show day! lol!
