Avenue Q
Wicked
Spamalot

All big award winners/popular shows will open 2006 on the West End...i wonder what will be the most popular or win the olivier in 2007...

I just hope we get Hairspray too.

Hairspray is definately coming over. I heard it might be replacing les miserables but it hasn't been confirmed yet. There is alot of shows coming of the westend this year and new ones going on so it could replace any one of them but i know its definately coming over sometime this year as my teacher who is a choreographer told us and also my singing teacher told me who lives in London.

I doubt it'll replaces Les Mis - when that finally closes Cameron Mackintosh has said he's going to press ahead with the renovations of the Queens and Gielgud which involve building a new theatre above that block.

I'd love to see Hairspray go into the Cambridge sometime soon though....

re: Best of the Best from Broadway in London 2006

Now dont get me wrong i have never seen hairspray, apart from clips online and tv shows but the stage looks huge! i couldnt see it fitting into Queens as it is tiny with no really pit for a band etc. As for les mis thats booking well into 2007 as Cam Mac wants it to beat Cats in london...though as soon as he does close it Phantom will over take anyway so there isnt much point in that. As for cambridge i have been there a few times and even though all rumers say it will go there, i would hate to see it cramed into it.would it not fit and look better somwhere with a larger stage? Palladium, Prince Edward, or Dominium? (i know these are booked up at the moment but rumers are that mary is not doing well at the mo and is only open cz it would look bad to close it so soon after opening and before broadway opens)as i say this is only bassed on what iv seen (which i admit isnt much)but i love it and as i said would hate to see a small not to good version of it.

Indeed Mary Poppins is not doing well at all from inside sources I have at the box office. Weekends are doing alright, but during the week its half empty or more in the large Prince Edward. Though, ticket prices are £55.00 every night/mat except Tuesday and Thursday mats and £49.00 on those - which is expensive for a London musical if you're wanting to take a whole family who are coming to London for the day.

Strong Rumour/News is that Hairspray believe it or not, will be opening late this summer at the Savoy...

Yeah my best friend works for Disney which is how i knew. Hairspray at the savoy?? really? i have to admit i hadnt even considered it, i have never been there so have no idea about how it might look, whats the stage like there?i thought Rat Pack was still going strong, is it closing then or moving?

If you thought that the Queens was tiny, try the Savoy! And despite it's size, nearly every seat feels miles from the stage. Hairspray would have to be pretty desperate to book into such a cold pit of a theatre.

As you can tell, I don't like it very much re: Best of the Best from Broadway in London 2006
