True. I saw Chenoweth do it in concert several years ago and she was great. It's such a great showcase for a great voice with great comic skills.

Yes, though I thought Chenoweth was better, performing it at some pops concert, than she is in the PBS Candide concert. Not her fault, but I think she has too much stage business, like with swinging those pearls around.

The OBC will always be my favorite. For the most complete and accurate recordings of the version most commonly performed, I like the City Opera recording and the 2001 National Theatre recording. The Scottish Opera CD is also a gem and the 1075 Broadway revival (if you can find it) on LP is fun and quite different from any other recording.

The OBC is a marvelous recording. I also think it possesses the best version of the overture.

The DG is incredibly slow. I watched the video of the concert and it was painful. If they had sped it up a little more it would have been much more acceptable.
