I am looking at tickets for these two shows and wondering what to aim for in terms of seats.
I want to be close enough that our noses aren't bleeding, but far enough back to see the big picture and not miss anything. Cost is also an issue as the orchestra seats are pricey.
I would appreciate any feedback you could provide!
Thanks so much!

I'm always a front mezzanine guy.. I think those are perfect seats, especially for musicals

Theatremom5, there are discounts available for both of those shows so you can get in to some of the orchestra or front mezz seats at a discounted price.
I saw Elf recently from the $39 last row seats and found that they had an excellent view of the stage and that I didn't feel as if I was in another theatre down the street viewing the show.
I've seen Mary Poppins twice once from the rear mezz (and then I moved up to the orchestra) and once from the front row mezz. All good views. If you stick with the front mezz, you'll greatly enjoy the end of the show...I won't say more in case you're not sure what goes on.
Mary Poppins is great from the front mezz. The partial view box seats are also very good, although you can only get those at the box office.
Here's how I scored a great seat for POPPINS. I had the Playbill discount code, went online and found a seat front row of the balcony just left of center for $46.50. Since I was in teh city I walked over the theatre, requested that seat and got it at teh discount rate.
Had an excellent view and of course with the sound mix hearing is never an issue.
One bit of warning...there is not a lot of leg room in that front row. So you might consider the second row which seems to give a little more space.
The Playbill discount applies Nov 29 thru Dec 24.

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
For Mary Poppins: House Right Orchestra B-T, Mezzanine AA-LL, or Balcony A-E (house RIGHT = even numbers) OR Box 10, 11, or 12 if available.
