Posted: 5/15/10 at 3:34pmI once heard a live recording of Margaret Whiting as Rose. She may not have had the ideal voice for the part, but she was fascinating! I wonder if any other divas who played the part in stock got to record songs: Gisele MacKenzie, Vivian Blaine, Jo Anne Worley, Janis Paige?

Posted: 5/15/10 at 9:53pmJanis Paige (1966), Margaret Whiting (1975) and Jo Anne Worley (1984) all did it at the Melody Top Theatre in Milwaukee. Each had something good about her interpretation, but my favorite of those three was Worley. Don't know where you could hear Whiting or the others.
